MEMORIAL HALL

 

The Memorial Hall was built in 1962 on the site of the village 'Hut', destroyed by the Fauld explosion in 1944: the hall commemorates the 78 people, many from the village, who perished in the explosion. With help from the National Lottery, the hall was extended in 2001 with the addition of a new kitchen, bar, foyer and toilets. The hall is run as a charity, with Trustees and a Committee of local members.

 

The main hall with its solid wood floor is the size of a badminton court, can accommodate 150 people for a concert, or up to 120 people for a dinner. The hall is an ideal venue for WEDDINGS and PARTIES, table top sales and bazaars, as a centre for sports events (eg cycle races) and as a meeting or conference centre. There is a sizeable stage with lighting and a sound system with 4 speakers. This where the Hanbury Players perform their annual concert or pantomime. 

 

The committee room is available for small parties of up to 40 guests, meetings and children's activities. A bar is available which opens onto this room.

 

The hall can be hired for as short a period as an hour to as long as a weekend at very competitive rates: please see the 'Contacts' section for more details. The Hall is modern, centrally heated and has a carpark for 60 cars.

Included in hiring fees are 150 upholstered banqueting chairs, 12 round - 8/10 seat dinner tables, 16 smaller oblong tables and 15 trestle tables. The kitchen has a range cooker, microwave oven, warming oven and water boiler.

Quality Catering services are available in the village from New Farm Catering (01283 820334): other caterers can, of course, be used.
